Zadar yacht charters
In the country of Croatia, on the edge of the Adriatic Sea, is the city of Zadar. The town is several thousand years old and the historical center of Dalmatia. With narrow city streets and ancient buildings with impressive architecture, Zadar is a unique yacht charter destination.
The defensive walls on three sides of the city, which were built by the Venetians in the 16th century are quite imposing. The eastern wall is the oldest portion and contains a footbridge which connects the newer portions of the city to the old part of the town. The medieval gates featuring the Venetian lion, which was a symbol of Venice, still stand.

On the scenic western quay is the Sea Organ, a unique instrument which is powered by the wind and the sea. The haunting chords are produced by nature itself.
The ancient architecture in Zadar is an amazing sight and touring the town is like walking into a living history book. The Church of Saint Donat, for instance, dates back to the 9th century and has become synonymous with the Croatian city. In front of the church stand the remains of the Roman forum. From the 1 st century BC, the pillars tell a story. The Pillar of Shame, on the northwestern side, is where individuals were chained and punished during the Middle Ages.
Saint Anastasia’s Cathedral (or Katedrala Sv. Stosije) is the largest cathedral in Dalmatia. Built on the location of an early Christian church, Saint Anastasia’s features architectural influences from the Roman period and the Gothic style. The Church of Saint Simeon (or Crkva Sv. Sime) dates back to the 16 th century; however written reference to it can be found as early as 1190. Both religious buildings house the sarcophagus of their patron saints.
Yacht charter guests can view a collection of religious artwork at the Museum of Church Art, located in the Benedictine monastery. The pieces on display include paintings, sculpture, reliquaries, and embroidery.
With so much history, it is not surprising Zadar is a popular stop on Croatia yacht charters.
